Binh Dong Temple
Under the pressure of urbanization, Saigon’s canals and old wharves gradually became street names or distant memories of nostalgic people. Let’s take a trip down memory lane with SFP to the last old Saigon wharf boats that still exist. Because tomorrow, we probably won’t see each other again! On this trip, you will experience traveling on a rare remaining boat, experience river life right in Saigon and learn about Southern temple culture. This journey was created out of curiosity about the lives and beliefs of the people around the river and canal banks, listening to war stories full of loss and sacrifice. There, you can feel the ups and downs and the strong vitality of the Southern people through the words of living witnesses.
Around 14:00 – 14:30 PM
You will go to Binh Dong Temple and can park your car in the parking lot on the small shop. Then, you will gather, settle down and listen to instructions on the film camera.
Visit the Mekong River region right at Saigon's old river wharf by the rare remaining boat in Saigon, hear about the customs of worshiping gods at Southern temples and shrines in the past and present.
Stop at a small temple in the middle of the river with the only means of access being the old boat. You have the opportunity to listen to historical stories about war and culture through the words of eyewitnesses.
Admire the unique architecture and bold Vietnamese culture under the interference and reception of surrounding cultures such as China and Cambodia. Listen to interesting historical stories through the character Ton Duc Thang
Go across the ferry to reach the old pier, where the two canals meet again. While walking, listen to stories about the lifestyle and living concepts of Saigon people and wait for the sun to set.
